ARTIST STATEMENT

As someone who was often seen as an outsider to classical ballet, I aim to reimagine what the art form can look like. I do this by providing access and a safe space for audiences to learn, empathize and expand their curiosity. It is one thing to practice this in areas of the country that want this, but I decide to create art in areas that need it. I have found success in these places by creating dance works that are:

• queer/diverse

• political

• collaborative

• interdisciplinary

• outside of mainstream classical ballet

This shows my ability and courage to connect with all audiences, while building community and representation for those whose stories are overlooked.
